This is the story of a duo named...Hughes & Dixon. A DC Metro Area acoustic/pop/rock duo that has undergone many incarnations since its conception. With music releases under names such as Envy Waits and Opus Jones. It all began when guitarist Patrick Hughes and vocalist Marc Dixon found themselves teaming up because of a Washington D.C. City paper classified ad back in January of 1996. Dixon, being of songwriter of a very few guitar chords, realized his limitations and placed the ad for an accomplished guitar player. Hughes seeking a singer/songwriter responded, and the two agreed to meet. After several beers and a few hours of trading musical philosophies, the two decided to combine their strengths and create their own original acoustic music and sound. The duo has teamed up with guest artists on some of their recordings over the years to include Kara Figg LiCalsi providing background vocals, and guest guitarists: Paul Gonzalez of 18Rabbit, John Mancuso and Paul Graziano.

Patrick Hughes is originally from Springfield, Virginia. Marc Dixon, born a D.C. native, grew up mostly in Manassas, Virginia. The name envy waits derive its name from the words of poet Thomas Fuller.

Back in the day, you might have caught the acoustic duo live at such venues as Food for Thought - D.C., Madam's Organ - D.C., Iota's - Arlington VA, Taliano's - Takoma Park MD, SoHo Tea & Coffee -DC, Leadbetters - Fells Point, MD, Bull Feathers - Gaithersburg MD, and St. Elmo's Cafe - Alexandria VA. Other venues we have played: Java Shack - Arlington VA, Ze Mean Bean Cafe -Baltimore MD, Tex Mex Grill - Rosslyn VA, Reynolds Street Cafe - Alexandria, VA, Rhodeside Grill -Arlington VA, Luna Park Grille - Arlington, VA and Cowboy Cafe North - Arlington, VA. And there are verified rumors that a few of their songs were played on the airwaves of former radio station WRNR 103.1, Annapolis MD.

The duo has not performed together in over 15-years but have recently reunited in 2020 to release this album and other works recorded before the age of the Internet. Marc Dixon can be reached at madixon2@gmail.com and Patrick Hughes can be contacted at pjhughes1971@gmail.com.
